myspace tutorial: adding extra blurbs

Posted in Uncategorized, tutorials by bpweiss on the February 14th, 2006

When filling out your Myspace profile, if you find yourself limited by the blurb choices of “about me” and “who I’d like to meet” you can add as many extra blurbs as you’d like by following this tutorial.

In the end your myspace profile could look something like this.

First, here’s the code for you copy and pasters. Customizing it to suit your myspace profile is pretty easy and I will describe it later on.

Heres another example, this one is going in my “I’d like to meet” section

In each example the first line of text is what is shown in the box you’ve pasted it into. You change that to whatever you want in the origional box. The following code just closes that box and opens a new one.

The text between the span class is going to look like the blurb header, so make your changes to what you want the blurb to be named. the br tag is a line break and then you write whatever you’d like to appear as text under that.

You can add as many new blurbs as you like by repeating this process.

myspace tutorial: posting an image

So, you’ve found a picture you like and want to share it with your friends on myspace. If it’s on your computer already, great. If it’s from a website, right click it and select “Save picture as” to save it to your computer.

To host the image go to: http://www.imageshack.us/

There is no need to sign up for an account if you plan to use the image only once, but if you’d like access to it later an ImageShack account will keep track off all of your uploads for you.

If the picture is on your computer make sure the “file” button is selected and click “browse”. In the box that pops up find your picture and click it.

click “host it”

Imageshack generates a lot of different codes you can just copy and past depending on what you want to do with the picture.

For example, If you wanted to show the whole image in a comment on someone’s Myspace profile you would choose the code from “Hotlink for Websites”.

Find the one you need. Copy the code by highlighting it, right-clicking and selecting “copy,”

Then, when you go to add the comment you would right-click again, select “paste” and the code would show up. You can also paste the code into you’re “about me” section of your profile if you’d rather do that.

If everything worked you could see the image in the preview of your comment, but sometimes it takes a minute before the image is available from Imageshack.

If Imageshack isn’t working for you a simular website can be found here: http://www.pictiger.com

If this helped you, or you have any questions, comments or other tips post a comment.
